wah, lecturers got teach useful things leh

something amusing happened during work today. ok it's amusing to me, i shall elaborate.

right now my project is to write the copy for this data compression software (hardcore geek shit! explore link at your own demise!). so i have to extract all the information our client has provided. there isn't a lot of information, but like i said, it's all computer-y stuff so i have to reread a lot of paragraphs to try to understand.

so was reading about data compression, and how traditional data compression works by eliminating high frequency data, etc. etc. this was what ping discussed in her digital tv lecture. at least, i think it was that lecture, something about how digital television are able to transmit more channels because of their compression techniques. ok not a very good explanation here but i'm a student, not lecturer. nyeh nyeh.

so i was having trouble understanding the "high frequency data" part when suddenly, boom, what ping said came into mind and everything falls into place! suddenly i comprehended (almost) completely what i had been thumbing through the entire day! not bad eh! something we learnt in NCT applied in my internship. i'm quite pleased.

ok. just wanted to share my joy with you guys. not every work day is a bad day! some days can be pleasant if you allow them to be... (like when that cute neighbour is spotted! lol)

you guys enjoy your last 17 days! and to our probationary member: enjoy your last 5.5 weeks! :)
