i just reached home and had dinner and bath. my duty for extended IT support today. anyway i also had to finish up e-newsletter and send them out. hope nothing goes wrong this time..
tomorrow a new guy is coming in to fill the place of a system administrator. he sure knows how to choose the timing. maybe it's an april's fool joke. dunno if he can survive through this one month..
the other day my boss was asking all the interns when is our last working day. guess he wants to delegate work and prepare for the next batch of interns coming in (NP interns are coming in 11 April. GOOD LUCK to them. they come in then plunge into the event, no warnings, no warm-ups) tink they'll have the nightmare of their life during their stay here)
anyway, when i told my boss my last day is on 15 April, he took a second look at his calendar and said :"wah, that is 3 days before WGS. you must have some very lucky stars with you."
i can't wait for the last day to come..
p/s: sorry sy, i didn't have time to go post office and buy the stamps for you. really sorry, dun be angry ar..

Photoshoot drama
haiZ.. it was an eventful day today... Went out photoshooting for a client with no budget!
We were supposed to have a photoshoot involving a cat near to our office building this morning and me and the other intern had painstakenly went about borrowing stuff for the photoshoot over the weekend (remember the fishing rod?) haha... but Jethro had the task of getting a cat/dog which is brown for the shoot! He'd managed to get one of our clients to agree to lend her cat....
However, this morning, he called to say he couldn't bring the cat as it had mercilessly scratched him when he tried to bring it into the taxi! So another colleague and I took a taxi to the housing estate where the other intern is with the friggin stubborn cat. We couldn't start the photoshoot as we had to find a new venue for the shoot since we're brought so far away... And after almost an hour, the art head decided that he wanted to keep to the original venue and that we took a picture of the cat to be superimposed into the photo!
Getting the cat to stand in the position we wanted it to was a whole new issue... Animals. RAAAAGH! Firstly, the cat of the right colour we'd originally wanted (yes. the scratching one) simply would not agree to let its photo be taken, so we took another greyish cat instead... My colleague took up the tedious task of getting it into the position we needed and several photos were snapped.... By miracle, the client who agreed to lend us her cats found a man with another cat that suited our description! And another tedious phototaking session commerces...
working with animals is really horrifying
Went back to our office in the photographer's van for the next part of the photoshoot. It took the photographers something that felt like 2 hours to take a photo of a standing guy! There were too many factors... The sun made shadows difficult for digital imaging, the art head not satisfied, the art head not present, the talent pose is wrong, the wind blowing etcetc
We proceeded to phototaking for the next ad at ard 2 plus and HOLY!!! a car was blocking our intended venue(which is a drain)... moments were wasted how on wondering how to remove the car and soon we just found ourselves another venue... So we walked over and the photographers drove their van with the equipment over....
The photoshoot wasn't too bad this time, and lasted around half an hour to one hour... But when we went back to the photographer's van... tada!! a traffic police stood nearby and they had gotten a summon!!!
hahaha.... haiz.... i have a deflating sensation
*btw, i finally got myself to complete the very unflattering puzzle!!!

our fyp and iras
i have started to see mytax portal's advertisements around our little island: on clearchannel panels, mrt walls, in newspapers and also a tv ad starring our very own pan ling ling and her other half.
what do you think?
i don't know about you, but if my memory served me right, their budget wouldn't have allowed for such frivolous and above-the-line advertising, would it? (TODAY's full page ad is in wednesday's edition, voices section)
well that's the first problem.
then there's the quality of their ads, aesthetics and copy-wise. i don't understand how they could have stuck to producing their own adverts with nary an idea from what we gave them last november. do their posters and advertisements remind you of anything moo works, joey's group, yenni's group or cutsix have done? i don't think so!
i don't expect iras to make use of any of our ideas, but how can i blatantly say "good job iras" when their ads obviously suck? do you guys still want to work for iras now?
(actually i dont mind leh. but fy says iras got a lot of cockroaches.)

20 more days to WGS..
hey hey i'm really looking forward to (not WGS) the end of our internship! are we meeting on 15 April? let's meet up! u all free?
sy, that sure was a scary experience! i think over here can feel some tremor too, though i din feel anything (coz i was sleeping) :p but my boss was saying that water in his fish tank was shaking and his lights flickered..
pw, how did u come across his blog? and his template same as ours leh.. u noe, when u told me to check the site out, i thot u are showing me some websites on dogs or something :p
come to think of it, i feel that on my last day of internship, somehow i might feel sad to leave the company (!!) not that i'll miss the company, but maybe i'll miss the ppl there. actually most of the ppl there are quite helpful and easy to get along with.
i'm still doing the usual stuff, editing video and updating of e-newsletter. i think i'm getting the hang of working here. quite used to it and picking up things relatively fast lately. guess i'm a little bit more initiative now. and it's quite satisfying to see your work turning out well. IT department doesn't sound so scary anymore. it's quite interesting to learn about servers, back-ups, rss, php etc..
ok i stop here now. i'm feeling sleepy already. very soon i won't know what i'm talking about le. really hope we can meet on 15 April :)

Tremor
if you all read my blog entry, you all would have known about the tremor in my hostel. was a lil' scary but it was more pissed for me! i missed sleep! ended up only catching my winks at 1.30. walau!! but anyway i pity indonesia. one country, so poor, so populated yet disaster befall them one after another. sighs!
on a happier note, i have been taught alot now that i am in the production dept. but one sad thing is that i am not able to go on msn during work. i sit with the 2 ppl (ie production manager and production assistant) and am away from my workstation. but then sometimes get to relax a bit. hahah the assistant kept asking me to relax and go back early or go have lunch (when it is not 1 yet) hahahaha he's very funny and a joker one la. he's chinese mixed indian.
anyway the grad trip, my vote goes to redang. fy, since you have special request you'll have to come up with some names mah. else you'll have to compromise with us. i know that sounds mean but that is the way mah. agreeable?
i have nothing much to say liao. getting back to my resume, trying to write more creatively. -_-

status update
because work is so boring and dry (try reading about public key infrastructure), you lucky readers of cutsix will get to read this.
some little tibits:
fy, take a look here. quite boring, but you wouldn't believe how i found that site. haha.
yinghua and shisi are shortlisted for NTU's comm studies so they'll be going for their interview tomorrow. good luck! i have not been shortlisted because i got too many Cs lah. haha. paiseh.
shisi is going on a graduation trip with her friends to korea (north) and taiwan. yes this bugger is going to two places over two weeks. we all know shisi to be a rich tai-tai in disguise, but a greedy one? that's new. why is it that she has to go to two holiday destinations when she's only graduating from one institution? shisi got no logic one. but then, we already knew that too. :)
i got an interview on saturday with a production house. yes, pei wen will still be an intern after this twelve weeks, this time on a voluntary basis. tell me i'm crazy.
good luck good luck everyone! we have 13 more days! 加油!
sy: that means jia you! ;)

gasps! yinghua, you fish?
i can't believe you lent jess the fishing rod!!! how did you carry it from your house??? omg!!!
tomorrow at lunch i got someone to make fun of already! lol
ok enough of that. yh must be wishing she hadn't lent it to jess if she knew what's in store for her. :)
anyway, met my client today, along with my colleague. their office is only along shenton way, just two roads from international plaza. this client is very different from my previous, neh, the one on internet security. i know why they're so different, because ladies do business different from guys lah.
allow me to elaborate.
see, the previous client didn't really discussed what went on with the project, so all of the team members had a different idea of the circumstances. this increased the confusion ten-fold, and not only that, it made me look bad if i did or wrote something the previous liaison liked, but the current one didn't. it's difficult to explain, but just remember that when people in the same company are doing the same project together but not having the identical outlook, it will spell disaster for you. that is also how men go about discussing business.
women, on the other hand, are much better. you may disagree with me but i've had three female clients and they were very nice; i've had one male client and i felt like strangling him. what other conclusions could i have arrived at?
ok, i had a meeting/discussion/briefing with one female client (let's call her jamie), and that female client is part of a larger team, just that her team members were unable to attend the meeting so she was their representative. not confused yet right? good.
so we came to a status quo after that meeting with jamie, and project work went on as what had been planned. then came the next meeting: something to check on what was done, what had to be done, what was to be corrected, etc. this time the meeting was with the entire group.
it went something like this:
male team member: hey let's include this part about the software so that people can understand how it works, this is our USP right? should include.
and i'm thinking, didn't jamie and i agreed not to include this portion already? at the last meeting jamie said this was not what they wanted to concentrate on. how should i go about explaining?
before i could say anything, however, jamie cut in and said exactly what had gone through my mind a minute ago. so i was quite grateful for that. why grateful?
because the exact same thing happened with the previous client and he did nothing about it! what's more, he made me felt like i was trying to pass the buck and be lazy and was trying to get out of doing what he'd requested. that bitch.
that's why i said females are better. hmph.

Good Morning.... again
haha! time to change our title back to cut 6! "cut 5" does not have the nice ring to it!
And i wanna thank yh leh.... for lending me fishing rod! (and bringing it all the way frm sengkang!)
haiZ... it's monday morning again... but with a difference! it's monday morning of one of our final 3 weeks! sure beats monday morning of our final six weeks rite? ^^ Everyday at work means one less day to of work before end of internship!
I have seriously lost track of how many weeks my log book has been ungraded already... And i hope i don't retrieve it to see a long line of Cs or Ds or something.... hmmm...
I think we find one day after internship go brainstorm la...
hmmm... as for vacation spots, i cant really think of much! Changmai? cause it sounds interesting... Or go Bangkok on weekends to see the weekend market... Actually, if we go on a free and easy trip to hong kong, its not too hard to get around....! And i think HK is only slightly more expensive than Bangkok? (i may be wrong..) hmm other than these.... er.... Genting? Or can go on cruise! if not... there's always... jakarta....

oh holiday!
i never heard of the places stated for the trip...! except Phuket... is it in thailand? (was it hit by tsunami?) sry if i sound so ignorant here... haha.... but i have this strange impression that Phuket is located in Thailand and hit by tsunami.... a confirmation with my dad told me it IS in thailand and hit by tsunami! does that mean travelling there will be cheaper?
okie.. i'm onz for the video bah!
ok.... it's good friday! the very last of our public holidays during our internship period... Most of us have 15 more days to go before we're free!
I woke up after noon today with a memory of a certain lecturer in school once telling us that "sleep is a weapon" (one which i've been deprived of for a looong loong time). Sigh.. A good, long sleep felt good. No, i have not been ot-ing as much these few days, but the overwhelming urge to complete personal tasks after work sort of overpowers my need for sleep and mroe than often i end up awake past 1 am or so... I know... not very healthy... but...!!!
Even today, there's so much things to do i simply have no idea where to start! (so feel honoured the first thing i did was post in cutsix/five blog wor!) haha... ok... time to enjoy the long holidays....!!!

public hols are so precious to working ppl
where are all those places? i dunno leh.. as long as the budget not too high i think it's ok for me. er.. dun go to a place that we can only do sun-tanning and swimming hor..
though i would really like to visit Hong Kong or Korea, i think it's out of our budget for now. maybe we can go when we start working..
yesterday was finally the last day for this guy and TP intern in my department. starting monday, i'll be the only girl in the department. i think things are going to be real difficult from now on. this guy who left has been with the company 4 years. the longest among all. everyone goes to him whenever there is a problem. even my boss doesn't know some of the things he knows.
when other staff leave the company, they only need to write 1-2 pages of handover documents. this guy has written over 60++ pages! you can imagine how much the company depends on him. without him, everything will be in a mess for a period of time, i guess. and i will have no one to turn to if i need help, the two (more helpful) TP interns are gone..
i have to do e-newsletter for April issue le. this time i'll check very carefully. i'll make sure that everything is correct and in place before i send it out..
this client wanted to include a press release in the e-newsletter and she sent an e-mail to my boss asking to confirm if we received the attachment. then my boss forwarded this e-mail to a perm staff asking if we received anything. then the perm staff come and asked me, coz he din receive anything. (i dunno why he asked me, coz i dun even know who the client is) then i said if dun have just send an e-mail back to her and ask her for the attachment. (that's the only logical thing to do right?)
shortly after that, i received an e-mail that was sent to my boss and cc to me. this perm staff told my boss that we din receive the attachment. and he added :"Fangying, please liaise with her."
i felt so...... if he wanted me to e-mail the client, he could have just said so to me rite? i would have gladly sent the client an e-mail asking her for the attachment. why must he go one big round like that? and this big round must go pass my boss? i dunno how to describe my feelings at that time..
but guess what? my boss replied the e-mail, saying:"(the perm staff's name), can you please kindly communicate to her(the client) on this."
hmm.. even my boss can see that this perm staff is trying to push his job to me..
i dunno how to post photo here, so check out my company picture in our gmail. we took pics before the guy left, as a momento to him (but i doubt he will want to remember his nightmare here in this company)
yesterday he looked so happy when he was saying goodbye to everyone. really happy for him that he can (finally) get out of this Torture Chamber. i am looking forward to my last day too..
though i would really like to visit Hong Kong or Korea, i think it's out of our budget for now. maybe we can go when we start working..

Morning is...
morning is opening IE (my office only has IE) and key-in www.cutsix.blogspot.com and see so many new entries. that alone bring a smile to me and cheers up my morning. lq, glad you found your way back. but please, PLEASE PLEASE don't make your font so small, ok? it's very VERY hard to read!!! it irritates the hell out of my eyes, having to squint to read your post. i think we've told you before.
wow, lq, you get to go to the SPH orientation. so nice, able to gain knowledge. so your hair's short now? got picture? post le! noticed i asked for picture (singular form.) :D
my task this week is to brainstorm (like what's new?!) and do up creatives for a client. sighs! the client is so "dry". you all get what i mean? i wana handle some FMCGs!! but the FMCG client we handle is not very hip and hapenning. it's only this and this. for the former, we're handling their cordial drink- s*nqu!ck. and guess who's handling the acct? hmfff the now-hateful t!! pw will know who t is. but anyway, these two FMCGs not very happening ah. i wished the company has clients like p&G or heineken. the heineken malaysia account was taken away by another competing agency. read in papers today. surprisingly, i cannot locate the agency's website.
2 months down, 1 more to go. so we shall all hold on and bite our lips till they bleed and wait for our release date. i feel that i am like a prisoner, waiting for the day i see daylight again.
so you all are geared for the digital film fest thingie? if so, i will have to email ping and tell her. hands up, those who're in it. i will only ask this ONCE and after this weekend, applications are closed! i am SERIOUS.
and jess, while people do get bored of stationary print ads, they must consider their budgets. whilst working in media, i realized as long as the client can be "kiam" (hokkien for stingy), they WILL! every thousand counts! not talking about cents here because in advertising, thousands are the one that matters. even cut short budget by 5k, they also happy. my colleague, the media planner had to re-revised the plan she worked out for a particular client. super troublesome man! and oh, i am not going to grad ball already as there seems to be ZERO attendance for our class.
anyway, all; let's just hang on to the rope for a month before it cuts! :P fy, i knew you'd say
"sometimes i do get angry with u all for being not serious enough when doing work, and for all the lateness. especially the lateness. but the displeasure won't be there for long, and i dun feel like blowing the matter up or anything.."
i know you don't like to blow up matter but it's important that others around you know what's on your mind so as to stop guessing...? because it's very tired and mind-taxing to guess what's on people's mind and i don't wish to add to our very stressful lives. i don't know la, this is what i feel. but i know your style is like you don't wish to say it out since it's already over. but don't you realize that incidents do repeat and haven't you heard that history repeats itself? plus, it's unfair to the other parties if they're not notified of their mistake or overlooking of certain details. i don't know, this is purely my view. to be honest, i get tired and frusfrated sometimes, when i try to guess what you're going through. many times, i give up guessing but when i sense something wrong, i'll try guessing again. i don't really like the guessing game, know. example, riddle games. once or twice, it may be fun but when it gets over 3 times, people DO get sian and don't bother anymore. i think i've said 'nuff.
miss cut6! not the cut6 in Learning Place! pw, you're so mean! hmmffff!! but i do miss the times we edit videos there. correction: i miss the times jess edit video and we gave her moral support. right, jess? ;)

its my turn!
wah i never read blog for 1 day only, suddenly so many posts already. yesterday was really tired, after coming back from coffee bean, i bathed and slept straightaway. anyway, enjoyed the dinner and the little chat we had. glad to meet up with all of u :)
hmm, though i expected people not turning up last minute, but was really disappointed nevertheless. i guess different people have priorities in life..
i dunno leh, its true lucy will be less close to me when i'm too busy and have no time for her. but if she's a friend or my other half, i'm sure things will turn out worse. she's honest in a way that is natural: we feel distant from ppl whom we spend less time with. but she doesn't take me for granted. she's always accepting and appreciative :)
do u think animals feel that they are always right? i dun think they'll have such thoughts. they are just contented the way they are. i dun think they'll ever strive to become a better creature. humans and animals are distinctively different. animals, like us, will feel joy, sadness, love.. but they dun possess higher thinking process. that's why we dun see animals asking:"why is the world so unfair?", we dun see animals suffering from depression, we dun see animals committing suicide..
do u all always guess what i'm thinking? i didn't know that.. hmm, maybe i dun show my displeasures much, but a lot of times i dun feel the need to. for example, sometimes i do get angry with u all for being not serious enough when doing work, and for all the lateness. especially the lateness. but the displeasure won't be there for long, and i dun feel like blowing the matter up or anything.. eh dunno how to say lah, i have a feeling u all won't agree to my point of view, especially sy :p
if u all need my help in the video competition, i sure dun mind doing this together :)
cheh pw, i thot u miss us. to think that u miss the room.. sure feels good to apply something u learnt in sch during work rite? i share your joy :)
we still on for the grad ball? i thot nobody's going already?
who did the "probationary member" thing? haha i din get it at first.. hmm, but seriously, i think cut6 might not be cut6 anymore in time to come..

wah, lecturers got teach useful things leh
something amusing happened during work today. ok it's amusing to me, i shall elaborate.
right now my project is to write the copy for this data compression software (hardcore geek shit! explore link at your own demise!). so i have to extract all the information our client has provided. there isn't a lot of information, but like i said, it's all computer-y stuff so i have to reread a lot of paragraphs to try to understand.
so was reading about data compression, and how traditional data compression works by eliminating high frequency data, etc. etc. this was what ping discussed in her digital tv lecture. at least, i think it was that lecture, something about how digital television are able to transmit more channels because of their compression techniques. ok not a very good explanation here but i'm a student, not lecturer. nyeh nyeh.
so i was having trouble understanding the "high frequency data" part when suddenly, boom, what ping said came into mind and everything falls into place! suddenly i comprehended (almost) completely what i had been thumbing through the entire day! not bad eh! something we learnt in NCT applied in my internship. i'm quite pleased.
ok. just wanted to share my joy with you guys. not every work day is a bad day! some days can be pleasant if you allow them to be... (like when that cute neighbour is spotted! lol)
you guys enjoy your last 17 days! and to our probationary member: enjoy your last 5.5 weeks! :)

empty hands
i cant check my student mail as i forgot my password!! and i'm not going to go back to school just to find out.. heh.... (besides ti've lost my adm card and that complicates things...) *sigh*
if you all are up for the video thing, i'm up for it too!! haha.. it'd be nice to end my stay in sp with some video making.... for the fun of it... hehZ
so fang ying and sy are confirmed for grad ball? i'm having second thoughts due, mainly, to the 70 bucks i have to fork out (cause my parents have expressed reluctant to pay the thing in whole)... 70 bucks (!!!)! but how about... if both of u go i guess the possibility of me gg is 90%?
anywayZ, i find myself doing less and less these days! in fact, this morning, i only burned a cd and now i have nothing to do at all! it's getting unnerving.... think i'll end up with a c or sth? the good thing is that i'd be able to leave earlier after work each day.... The reason for lack of work maybe is because most of the projects are now past mock up and pre production stage and have moved to production.... and i cant help much leh.. don't know free hand... i know i ought to station myself beside the creatives to learn, but they are so busy(not to mention temperamental at this point)! i daren't bother them too much....
sigh.. no concept to think over for now.... i seriously have nothing to do!!! hmmmm take it as a good opportunity for a break bah...

fyi
yea agree with what sy said in a previous post: that you, fy, don't really show your displeasure and we were often left guessing what you were thinking about, dunno whether you're angry over something we've said or done... it's like playing charades.
and yes, meanie, of course i remember all the smses you've sent during classes even though i'm just one seat away. you are certainly the innovator of new age communications! i remember when my phone rang during class and i took it out, only to find out the caller was you! imagine my amusement and surprise! lol. good tactic for catching people's attention eh. i wouldn't have expected something like this from anyone else.
jess, i've read that mail in my student intranet last week. yes i check regularly! i'm onz if you guys wanna take part. thanks for the countdown too.
i miss cutsix! i mean our room in The Learning Place. :) and i bet yh misses edmund too.

things people do when they are bored
as the title suggest, when i am bored; ok, when i am free. i look through our photos that were taken during the IRAS visit. haha i was clearing my student intranet inbox (yes, my delete habit!, pw) then i saw aa's mail on photos taken during our iras visit. opened it again and jolted some memories.
like how pw and i were sms-ing each other though we were just 3 or 4 seats apart. she was saying a nice view i've got there. ;) you remember, pw? hahahaha!! but no, it's all the white hair i see!! *gasp* i am still the same ol' meanie, no change.
and how norman and shisi feeds on the snacks during the tea reception. tsk tsk. and the cold cold visit to their office upstairs. hahahaha! think the funniest was the sms between pw and myself.
psst.. i was considering applying to IRAS a couple of days ago. unfortunately, they had no openings in their corp comms. o_o

human vs animals
first thing first, thanks, fy for ammending it. but it's cached. so it does not matter if you do change but i appreciate it.
what we having now? another battle between human and animals? the thing for you is that because you are "weak" as in, you are "sui bian" to almost everything, you are taken for granted most of the time. fy, you have to stand up and defend yourself. in this way other will not bully you and perceive you as "bully-able". and consequently take you for granted.
you don't sound your displeasure out, no one will know what you are thinking and not everyone will go to the extend of going all out to find out about your hidden feelings. sometimes i think it's best to let people know you DO have a temper and you're just like any other normal being. you DO flare up in anger!!
by the way, if you think your friend is angry at you, what is she angry at? do you know? don't know? find out! talk to her. no use swallowing your words and the next time it happens, you are affected by it emotionally.
i do agree with pw that animals are brutally honest. BRUTALLY HONEST!! i feel that we, as human do err and that is good. we learn from it and become a better person. animals always think they are right and thus takes a longer time and effort to become a better creature. like pw said, i don't own a pet. i may be wrong.
but i still feel that there's no way that a man can live on an island, alone.

animals?
oh i don't know fy... i guess it's true that lucy will always welcome you whenever you step into your house, but remember that you've also mentioned lucy's decreasing interest in you because you haven't been spending much time with her?
maybe it's just me, but perhaps a human will put on a show and feign interest, whether it's in consideration of your feelings or whether he or she wants to get something from you, one might never find out. of course, the former is a more positive viewpoint then the latter. my point is, animals are too blantantly honest, and it hurts sometimes, i think. but i don't have a pet myself. so i'm not in a position to say anything.
anyway, was counting on the train today and realize we only have 18 days left! haha. will i get busier? O_o

ok ok i get your point
ok lah sy, i get your point. see the change i made to my previous post :p
i did mention i was writing e-zine for nashrin ar. you forgot :( see my previous post titled "moving on?"
pw, i dun come up with the e-zine content ar. i get stories from nashrin and summarise into one paragraph. mostly are media releases from the companies themselves, to publicise their activities, new products or promotions. i can now see the importance of a media release that stands out. even a small company with an ulu e-zine gets so many press releases, imagine how much more does the only main newspaper in Singapore gets?? if your press release is typical and boring, it gets thrown in the bin.
haha yah i know IT ppl can't write. u forgot what department i'm in? :p
just a brief account on what happened today. this church fren of mine had been quite attitude towards me for the past few weeks. dunno if too stressed with work or angry with me. been taking it easy but today is the last straw. to keep the story short, i was really upset today. and when i sms to ask what exactly went wrong, i din get a reply. was hurt to the ultimate point.
when i reached home, lucy came out and welcomed me, wagging her tail furiously. at that point, suddenly felt very very strongly that animals are much better than humans. they won't hurt or disappoint you. it's easier to love animals than humans, ppl are so much less lovable than animals. Dogs are devoted and loyal, and are always welcoming to their owners. Human beings are temperamental and difficult at times; or rather, many a times.
maybe i'm socially inept. i read somewhere that ppl who prefer the company of animals than interacting with other ppl might have a social handicap..

a reason behind every thing we do
fy, there's a reason why i ONLY link to my client's website, know... else i would have just wrote my client's full name.
anyway, you did not mention that you helped nash write the e-zine but she did tell me that you are writing for her.
the grad ball, you can choose NOT to only talk to me. that is when you network, socialise and get to know others, right? but anyway if you ain't keen, it's ok.
aihh people say a hungry man is an angry man. i am hungry now because i waited to have dinner with my roommate only to have her tell me she has other things to see to. i already wanted to go buy food when she said she asked her friend about something then can go for dinner together. wah! thanks! actually once bitten twice shy. i had my share of scare when i had dinner with her last time at 8.30 and ended up my stomach shouting to me "i'm blardy uncomfortable." but i decided to be adventurous and try again. sighs! see, not that i am not trying to be friendly and mingle with my roommate, like what my friends think. but when i tell them what went wrong, they were like "OHH!!".
my stomach's rumbling....i feel like a mouse, searching for scraps.

yeah i saw the change
did i mention that i agreed to help nashrin write e-zine? it is up today leh, except the feature story, i wrote the rest of the short short paragraphs.. hee :p
when nashrin asked me to write for e-zine, she was telling me to write it after office hours. but recently i dun have much videos to edit, and i hate to hide from my boss that i'm writing for e-zine. so tues in my daily updates email to him, i added one line after updating of task to him, "can i help to write e-zine when i am not doing video?"
his reply was "sure of course you can." phew. that was easier than i thought. to think that my colleague told me not to tell him. and yesterday i told him about my NIE interview, ask him if i can leave at ard 1 plus and come back at around 3, he said "ok can." just like that. i was pleasantly surprised.
sy, ur client is m****h university?
just the 2 of us go grad ball? will be fun or not? u talk to me i talk to you.. if like that we can just find some place sit down and talk ar..
wah.. pw, the whole website content u write one? got practise what kenneth tan teach or not? :p

Inadequacy
Ok fy, we will trust you on this one, but if the korean restaurant is not there, dinner will be on you! haha.
the lecturers were right, internship will get busier and busier, yh and shisi alone are great examples. my colleagues are also giving me more and more work now, which is nice in a way but also kind of sucky cos i also want time to do my own things (read: check email and surf blogs). lucky i'm not in a company like byt****ia, i would have died and gone to heaven (yesssss heaven) by now.
i met my client on wednesday. you know, the one who didn't like my copy. well i eventually dumbed down what i had wrote initially and he said "good job". maybe he just didn't want to hurt my feelings but he hasn't requested any changes since my second draft. ssshhhh, don't tell anyone but you may view the site here.
about the meeting,
i think there were some miscommunication there. from my side, i had planned to present the copy and mockups that my designer has done to my client, so if he approves of everything, we will go ahead with doing up html.
but when i went for the meeting, i could feel that he had expected everything to be done up already, and i could somewhat sense his disappointment. of course i'm not one to disappoint people if i could help it, so it felt like i wasn't performing up to standard when my client wasn't happy; in a minute way, it felt like i had let my company down.
so i was a bit upset for a moment.
till i realise the miscommunication had nothing to do with me. :)
truth is, this website development project had been passed around in the client's company from one person to another so they all had no idea what the previous person had discussed with me or had assigned me to do. plus, no one likes to say that they haven't done much so they will all try to up their accomplishments when they handover this project and look what happened in the end? things get blown out of proportion.
not my fault what. nyeh nyeh.
anyway, going back to SB on thursday was definitely pleasant. so thursday was a good day for me, despite what happened earlier in the week. i was quite thrilled when the year twos mentioned our group name (cutsix) and sy's opening line (ignorance is bliss) and my ahemahem award (best presenter). haha, never thought this would, or could, happen. but if you think about it, if we could all remember felicia the impressive presenter, zarinah the boring presenter, aaron the mascot... why can't the year twos remember cutsix? ;)
but it's weird to be called a senior now. funny, i used to remember lecturers saying "meet your seniors" and now i'm on the other side, i can't get used to it. sounds so old. we actually have juniors now. haha.

Utter Disappointment
sorry but all the way from KL, i could sense and feel fy's displeasure and disappointment (correct me if i am wrong) in both lq and yh. 'nuff said.
whew~! another week down! it's so fast! i was listening to my sisters chatting happily about how their 1 week break is starting and now it's ending! haha time really flies! but i really hope time flies faster because i really have nothing to do! pw can vouch for me. i am so so free i can gaze at my resume till they rot and change till i have nothing to change, i play with the fonts. -_- right? sighs!!
but i did some copy for a radio ad for a client. it was not very hard but after the creative director saw it this afternoon, she said, "quite expected. [i forgot what else she said!!]" all in all, my copy was -rejected-. but oh well, i am not dejected, just that i learnt that copywriting is really hard. however, she did mention that there's some interesting idea in there that could be used. well, thank you! she also said that next week, when she is more free, she will give me some guidelines. thanks, once again! i hope i get to learn more next week.
previously in servicing and media, it's always "nah-do-this-like-that-period." it's very straightforward, you either do it right or wrong. whereas creative is very subjective. it's up to you to convince your client that your idea will work. tough eh?
pw told me about how our year 2 juniors remember our group name and our opening line. aww...i feel so hounoured and happy that we've "inspired" our juniors! hahahaha!! ok, i was very elated la!! :D
ms kwa, thanks for your concern. we appreciate it very much. really. :D cellmate!!!
p/s: as i was typing, my roommate was talking non-stop! brrr not that i don't like her talking but her style is very domineering!! when she talks, she doesn't allow you to cut in- when you're trying to make a point, after 2 words she cuts back and continue with her sentence. so i've learnt to just continue with my sentence without letting her interrupt in. then only she will shaddup and listen! hahahaha meanie ol' me yeah? learnt from the guru! (read: dear pw) :P
oh, fy, do you want to go grad ball if i go? go la, go la, accompany me. jess, how about you? hmm lq and yh? i suppose it's useless to ask the both of you since you hardly reply anyway. oh well. pw, we sneak you in? hahahah. OOOPSS! forgot ping reads our blog! :P

missing
haha.. sy, ur entry is funny!
i dun mind going to grad ball if u all going. but the deadline when? still can sign up? hmm, must wear special costumes? isn't it just formal wear can already?
and yes, i din realise the comment part until u told me. how u noe i dunno? u always guess my moves so well. even the food i eat!! i noe lah, i'm predictable rite?
as for the counting down part, i can't help it. it's there at the door everyday i go work. and i see it everytime when i go toilet and come back. most imptly, it's also helping me count down the days left for internship!

cut 4. period.
From cut6 to cut3 then cut4. How wonderful. lq & yh, continue to keep quiet and fy gets "tul@n" and delete your names from the blog then.....BOMB!!! Perhaps you both self-bomb, better?? Yeah. Self-bomb is always the option rather than get bombed. I am bored la, you see!
Eh, no one answered my question: ARE WE OR ARE WE NOT GOING TO GRAD BALL?? Seems pathetic, no one seems to be going. But I think it's the costume theme that puts people off. But come think of it, it's going to be fun thinking of dressing up and shop for costumes! Guess you all not interested and I shan't push anymore.
jess, boyf=boyfriend. And I did not mean you la! I meant lq! Wake up from your sleep and open eyes and read! Hahaha! "Don't want face" ah, think I am referring to you? Hee Hee 22 working days don't sound so long! So, way to go man! We shall be released from the Torture Chamber soon enough! But for now, it's back to the grind. jess, what are your plans after graduating? Never got a chance to talk to you since you're constantly in your DreamLand.
fy, I don't suppose you notice there are comments left after some entries? Keep your eyes open, yeah? Sometimes just want to say something that is a sentence or two so it's easier to post comment than login and key in an entry.
Anyway, I have been looking at the card you all sent, or was it fy who sent? Literally, sent. Haha but the gist is: the card keeps me going!! I cannot wait to get back to kiasu island too! My roommate saw the montage and she commented that I must have a splendid time in school. My reply: Of course! *with a big smile* My friends made this for me and gave me on my last day in school. They're the ones who accompanied me throughout my 3 years in Singapore.

i am alive!
hey! why is it cut 3!! i protest strongly! *protests* and... hey! i am wrongly accused!! how can i destagnantise the blog when it's already not stagnant!! haha! and what "boyf" ah? it's non-existant!!
4 weeks 3 days more! to be more accurate, that's 22 working days!! i have a lot to say about my work place.....! but i don't think its wise to type it here.... >_<
things are aways flunctuating and for now, i think its more bearable than last time, especcially with the appearance of new office crew... I walk pass la selle international school every morning and i think: lucky asses.... still in the comfortable life of school.... haiZ.... But yah... realised that there is always difficult people to deal with at work... and at the same time, there's a sense of accomplishment when getting your work done... hmm.... Also forcing myself to spend less as i'd slurged $56 over on a book... *smiles* i am broke now!

1 more month
as of today, we only have 1 month left for our internship!! i am already feeling excited. i cant imagine if today's the last day, how i would feel!!
sy, dun feel too bad ok? we will see each other soon! ENDURE! ONE MORE MONTH!!
actually, i'm getting used to the company gradually. but i cant stand office politics. really cannot take it. why cant ppl live in harmony? does true happiness comes from climbing up at the expense of stepping ppl down? sometimes i really dun understand the motivation behind things ppl do..
anyway, this colleague of mine has been signing my log book previously. but i think recently he's too busy coz he hasn't been signing it for 3 weeks. so today i braved up all my courage and asked my boss if he could sign my log book. u noe what? he gave me A for conduct and B for performance. all along my colleague has been giving me B for both. realised that my boss is more generous..
this guy from my department is leaving this week. i think he's the record holder of the whole company. 4 years 10 months and 15 days in this company. haha..
34 days more days to WGS..

Harsh Reality
It's so harsh and hard when the person you respect a lot suddenly turns her back at you. s came to me this morning and said these: "sy, do the creative people know you are sitting here or not? Because if not, you'd better tell them. If they are not giving you any work, you've got to talk to m (the secretary). We have a lot of work to do here and we are rushing. *glares*" After that, I hear murmurs from her room and next minute, the secretary came out and said, "sy, come." And so I followed her to the copywriting side and she left me with these: "You know them, don't you? They'll tell you what to do." With that, she left. I knew s must have said something to m when I heard the murmurs. Darn, I am disturbing the media people. I am such a irritating person, ain't I?
Yesterday, when the srtategic planners came up, n asked me to join in the meeting and media on a client. s later butt in and said, "Better not. You're with creative now, right? Better not. It's very sensitive one ahh." I thought since I had nothing to do, I might as well sit in and since n extended her invitation, why not, right?
Aihh I feel so rejected and such a nuisance to my colleague, sk. I was asking sk about resume-writing when s appeared. Now, sk and I could only communicate via paper. Haha, reminds me of those times in secondary school, passing notes to classmates at the other end of the class to ask her about some gossip which I missed a night ago. Cheh!
When my supervisor, d came back from her presentation, I told her my worries for not able to fill in my logbook and she said, "Just say you brainstorming la~!" How cool is that? I have to brainstorm for TWO days uh? And it does not help that the Internet server is down, I could not surf. Sigh. Initially, d said that there'd be briefing from servicing today but it has been postponed till tomorrow. Then I'd be able to lay my hands on radio copy. I never pin my hopes high anyway. She forgot to call me for a meeting yesterday when she said I could sit in and I reminded her TWICE!! Hurrhhh...I wish I don't have to work with t for any projects but looks like it's hard because his projects seem to be everywhere! What the...!
Grumbles aside, congrats to pw who secured 3 places in 3 universities. I'm proud of you, dear! But make careful choice as you'll be paving your own pavement now. Be wise and smart. Plus, the grass always SEEM greener on the other side. However, beware of the green green grass. :) Just a word of advice. I'm sure you'll have a fun time doing what you want after troubling over where to go and which uni to go for. I wished I could further my studies, too. Sighs!
fy, yes. Dictionary.com is a very useful site. Thanks to pw, I am holding on to this site like I am clinging to my life! Hahaha!
Are we confirmed NOT going for the prom night? Though I am very disappointed.
jess, you haven't been de-stagnatizing the blog, eh? lq, having a boyf already doesn't mean you abandon your friends, yeah? ;) and yh, can you start contributing to the blog before we get mad and cut you off!! You know you've to fight for participation marks in school yet don't know how to leave your mark here?? *shakes head*

*shakes head*

dilemma
wah pw, so good u are accepted into two unis. being accepted means you have more options. hmm.. but may not necessary be a good thing. coz more choices create more headache in making a decision. i guess you have to weigh carefully the pros and cons. i think most imptly is what you really want. you want the experience of studying overseas? or are you just contented to obtain a local degree? or do u feel that an overseas degree will have an advantage over a local degree? and of course the money issue.. is all these going through your mind? hmm.. or is it i think too much? :p
i think black background looks nicer. but it doesn't really matter. as long as it can be read i'm fine with it :)
the grad ball i dun mind going ar, if all of you going. coz i feel that it's the company that matters, not the place or the food (haha maybe a bit of the food also lah) if go grad ball see all the unfamiliar ppl then like no point.. got own frens then can enjoy ar.
er, somehow i gotten a taste of office politics today. it's scary. u never know what people will do behind your back. human nature can be exposed to its worst when circumstances arises..
but my boss says if there's anything we can't handle just tell him. he'll keep us well-protected, provided we give him the facts and we are not in the wrong. how does that sounds to you?

battle of the cab-takers
what a fierce battle over cabs today! i want to complain k, even though i did gleaned something from today's cabbie-fight.
allow me to explain, you guys must be confused.
i took a cab to work today. not because i was late, in fact, i was already at my bus stop at 8.10am, which would make me reach work nicely at 8.55am. that would have been perfect, right?
nooooo.
somehow, this morning's bus was nowhere to be seen. i waited til 8.25am, no 17 (the bus i take) in sight! since i was running late, i thought i would catch a cab to the train station so i can still reach tanjong pagar on time.
but nooooo.
there weren't any cabs in sight either! which was a surprise since many people in my area take cabs, mostly people from the condo and private estate in my backyard, and late-goers too, the yh type, you know.
so, back to the absence of taxis.
i had to wait til 8.35 to hail one! lesson learnt: it's not where you stand that matters, it's who raises their arm first. singaporeans will always have a way to re-invent the cab-taking competition. it doesn't matter where you stand along the pavement, it's your ability to spot the available taxi first, flag it down first, and you win. i felt so shocked and embarrassed to see the cab go to the man only a mere five metres behind because he'd flag the cab first.
walau.
eventually, i couldn't just take the taxi to the mrt, because already very late, i had to get a ride to my office instead.
do you know it costs me more to go to tanjong pagar then to dover ok! ERP and peak hour charges were already half the normal fare! now i have no money to eat lunch! so pissed ok! if my bus had turned up ON TIME, i wouldn't have be reduced to such circumstances (and poverty). sobs.
today really no luck.
p.s. i made the layout change cos my pc at work doesn't take to the black bg very well. if you guys want it changed to previous just say ok? don't hesitate. :)

"i hate it!"
anyway, if you have read my blog, then you would have known that my client says he doesn't like what i've wrote. well, anyway he called me a day after to email me more work and to explain what he wanted.
i admit i was a bit shocked at first, i mean, his comments were pretty blatant and honest. but, haha, perhaps he reads my blog so he decided to explain clearly what he wanted. good for me.
well like i was telling radiah, i really regret saying to my colleagues i have nothing to do! now they give me work and more work... haha. OT is my best friend now. sigh.
oh. don't know whether this is good news or not, because when i received the news i wasn't particularly excited.
i got accepted into Edith Cowan Uni (in perth), and conditional acceptance in Uni of Melbourne (in melbourne, duh). so many things to do: visa, health cover, flight details, accommodation... i guess i wasn't really prepared to get accepted. i think i'm still quite fickle over this. i don't know if it's worth the money to go all the way to Australia just to get a degree, it is afterall about 3 times the cost of a local comm studies degree.
oh, conditional acceptance means they want to see my final results first before accepting me.
sigh.
actually i would prefer going to a local uni... but ntu's strength is not comm studies, and smu doesn't have such a programme.
all these talk about further education is started to make me lose my hair. think i shall stop obssessing.
oh oh! about prom night.
ok my take: i am actually very interested, just that the theme is a bit impractical. i'm of the opinion that grad balls should just be "formal wear" or in true singaporean style: "smart casual". anyway it's just people sitting there eating right... i used to think that grad balls should be free leh, or cheap at best. 70 dollars is making me think twice, no thrice, about going.
so have you all arrived at your decision? please comment on my post. we'll see what we can do k?

moving on?
hey sy, u are not the only one getting B for internship ar, i also got B all this while. so dun feel so bad k? somebody is in the same boat as you :p
today nashrin asked me if i want to write for weekly e-zine, coz she's moving on to writing magazine le. her boss knows we're from the same course so he got her to ask me if i want to take up this writing task. but i have to do it outside office hours. coz i'm in IT department, and this is publishing department's job. so maybe it's not very nice if my boss finds out i'm doing other department's job during work time. anyway i agreed to try for next week. just to help nashrin and to pick up my rusty writing skills again.
i e-mailed rajan and told him about my dilemma whether to stay in my company or not.
This was what he said:"there is something immensely satisfying to see your project through to fruition. It is a good opportunity and it just needs you to stay 2 weeks more. Go for it."
he is looking forward to seeing us tomorrow. he missed harassing us. haha..
41 more days to World Gourmet Summit..

Are We Able To Do It?
I know I should not say this but I had to!! When I saw the pictures that val posted on the day of our class BBQ, it jolted memories of our school. Really, I would not trade in anything for having this bunch of classmates. Sob Sob. Indeed, we were not the most united class. In fact, I think we are the most dis-united (is there such a word??) bunch of all 5 classes. And a simple thing like the class T-shirt took us helluva long time and it's NOT out yet. Talk about class spirits!
We have several personalities in our class. Unlike other classes who are soooo generic, we have the noisy bunch, the intellectual, rowdy, pornographic, quiet but deep thinkers (would that be us, cut6 ar??) and the pon-ers (people who skip classes!haha). What categories have I left out? Hmm.. and the "kuai lan" one? (ie dear jw, future gamling king!!)
Will we still be able to laugh and fool around 3 years later? Let's not look too far ahead like 10 years. But 3 is sufficient. Are we able to down the satays and sausages and otah as forfeit? (poor yh!! hahahaha how many satays/ sausages/ otahs in a row?) Are we able to joke and stand smelling like BBQ sausages ourselves? Are we?

Another B
I got another B from my media head, s!!! Hurrrr why another B!!! How come I don't even smell an A coming my way??!?! I thought since she has positive comments of me I'd be at least seeing one A in my logbook. But no, she chose to follow suit and gave me a B! I really felt like dying. Grrrr!!! Instead, she wrote "Note: Working attitude is commendable." Doesn't that qualify me for an A? NO??? Hmmph! But then again, she has high expectations, so I think getting a B from her is quite consoling. If the previous intern had a logbook like ours, I wonder what she'd get? Hahaha One person's happiness built on another's sorrow! Hiak Hiak Hiak. Back on track, do you all think I should ask s, "How do I improve my grade to an A?" Comments, comments.
Ooo~ this Sunday is my s's birthday!! Haha we were thinking of celebrating for her perhaps on Wednesday or something. :) Since we ain't as happening as the Account Servicing people, I think we shall just go for lunch and blow a cake. Must remember to bring my camera. Haven't been using it for a long long time. I am not that narcissistic as ehemlqehem! Hahahaha!
Oh, pw, have you settled your paycheck with your forgetful supervisor? Haha! Don't act like a tyrant, yeah! Lest you don't get your share!! Haha!!
I went to KLCC to watch this movie with my friends. Watching movie in KL ain't cheap either! Cost me RM11. But it was well worth it. I like the story though some may beg to differ. Well, to each his own! :) I went to the website yesterday morning and I had a shock! Shan't reveal too much. Go watch it, if you will. No VCD!! No No. Piracy is bad!!! :P
Classic example of the pot calling the kettle black, ah!!

Embrace!!
I forgot to let you peeps into this. You all got to really check this phone out!! It's real cool ok! And it's really cheap. And I mean REALLY REALLY CHEAP!! So cheap I am considering it. Hint: I can buy the the mobile phone using my paycheck, even! :P Itchy itchy itchy! And media buyers can get it cheaper.....
I did not have a good perception of the brand but since I am working mainly on this account, I have to know the products well. Even try to embrace the brand! Hahahaha! I guess it's like that when you are servicing your client. My media supervisor got to use one of their mobile phone and is so used to it that she loves it!! However, this client is very particular... even when pasting their press release clippings! When I had to compile (read: paste newspaper clippings onto loose papers and to be bind) I had to paste the newspapers in a certain format. ONE format. No other way. You fold the newspaper in this way, you have to do it this way and no others. Regardless of where the article is. o_o
Everyone knows this client is superfussy. Sigh. How was the Career 2005? Tell me, I read from the MDA website that they have more openings in the media industry. I really feel like weeping because it's sort of shouting to us!! And where am I? Stucked in the city of pollution. Hurh!!

i hate to say this...
i noe u all are sick of hearing this, but i really must say: i missed sch so much!!
today, val, nashrin and me went back to FC6 for lunch. coz nashrin wants to pick up her dvd and return her long-overdued book. so we took a cab there, went to the library, had a quick lunch, and took a cab back.
its really a different feeling back in sch today. reminded me so much of the times we spent in sch. though we only left sch for a month, i feel like i've been working for 3 years already.
went to look for rajan and ms kwa, but they were not in their rooms. think they very busy.. Students are busy too, think they're rushing projects. lots of ppl in library printing stuff. Haha, we went thru that too :p
anyway, today we had our weekly department updates meeting. everyone is supposed to update our boss with what we completed and more importantly, our outstanding tasks on hand. for the last 4 meetings i din have to say much:
1st meeting: my boss told me to "get my feet wet" and see what they are doing
2nd meeting: the other SP intern covered what i did with his updates (he do filming i do editing)
3rd meeting: my boss asked me to use one word to describe my experience in the company
4th meeting: my boss asked me how long more i will be with the company
today, when its my turn, he din ask me any qns. he just looked at me. then i started to report what i did, eg. how many clips i edited, how many clips vetted, how many clips not ready etc.
and u noe what? i totally fumbled. i started like :"er..today the filming..the interview..i haven't edit yet.." then my colleagues started giggling coz all of them noe that i was scared of him, that's why i speak like that. my boss told all of them to keep quiet and let me speak. then i was like:" er..7 clips..not yet..er..haven't vetted..19 clips approved.."
i was so totally embarassed.. sorry guys, think i totally ruined the reputation of a Media and Communication student. Somtimes i really wonder if i enter the correct course. u noe, my boss was talking to the other SP intern previously and he was like:"HUH?? She's from Media and Communcation? But she's SO quiet!!"
i feel so bad.. thot of that time rajan say :"Would ppl be surprised to noe that u are a DMC student?" i guess ppl would be SHOCKED to noe that i'm from DMC..
but i enjoyed the course. though most prob i wont go into media and communication industry. guess i don't really have what it takes..
anyway, today they started to put this sign at the door that countdown to WGS. It says "45 more days to World Gourmet Summit." Val and me was thinking: "45 more days to the end of our internship!" Haha..
sigh.. tomoro got to work. this month only get 1 sat off. coz of 9 March. Need to pay them back half a day. hee think tomoro my boss will buy breakfast for us, he always buys us breakfast on saturdays :)

eventful
wah suddenly so many ppl write at once.. wanted to write yesterday, but was chatting with sy over msn till late. now chatting with pw and sy, but sy say i shld learn to multi-task. so dun blame me hor, if i am blur in the msn conversation, coz i'm writing this at the same time :p
anyway, today was not a good day. the TP intern took MC yesterday, but she bumped into our German boss at esplanade for some tourism awards at nite. The German boss called my boss immediately (my boss worked till 2am last nite coz of some technical problems that one guy was having and he needed a solution urgently).
this morning when my boss came, he told the girl to be prepared. coz since Dec she started working there she has taken 6 MC and 2 urgent leave. the German boss already start to notice her and my boss also warned her before. Then yesterday nite was the last straw. She took MC but German boss saw her outside.
Ard 10 plus my boss was called by the general manager. talked abt this incident. then after lunch the German boss came in. my boss was called again. German boss was FURIOUS. to make matters worse, sanjay and val are on MC today. that added fuel to fire. German boss went to HR and took the leave records of the TP intern, came back to call my boss and the TP intern again. they came back abt 10 mins later. then my boss called all the interns in. he din scold us or anything. talked to us nicely. sort of comforted the TP intern also. coz the German screamed at her like crazy. wanted to fail her and stop her work from today. but he decided to give her another chance. my boss said so far German boss has made 5 girls in this department cried. afterwhich he was the one who had to do the counselling and comforting..
he talked a lot to us. felt that he's quite nice. encouraged us to hold on and finish our internship without any mishaps. help him to help us. so far he has not failed any interns and he wants to give us good grades. he also said one day he bring us interns all out for lunch. sort of closure to our internship.
though he seems nasty at first, i feel that he's actually a kind person at heart. like today, though he worked late last nite, he din show temper or anything. i thot he'll be really angry with the TP intern, but surprisingly, he was gentle and comforting towards her. and he always brings us out for lunch, buy tidbits for us, treats us to tea breaks, buys breakfast for us etc. its just that he expects us to be punctual and do work properly. if we dun meet his standard in these 2 aspects, he can get really nasty at times.
anyway, while he was talking to us in his room, he asked me why i looked like i was the one being scolded by the German boss. he told me dun worry, he thinks the German boss wont scold me.. haha i guess val was right. i really looked like i was abt to cry anytime. maybe that's why nobody scolded me yet..
actually, i did a grave mistake.
the e-newsletter i was assigned to do, had to be sent out on mon. and mon happened to be the day i stayed back for extended technical support, so i could finish up my work at the same time. i had to do 2 versions of the newsletter. one short version to be sent to the subscribers, another full version to be uploaded onto the website. when i finished the newsletter, only me and the other perm staff was left in the office. he helped me to send a test newsletter and he told me to check for any errors before sending out to the subscribers. i checked and everything was fine. so the newsletter was sent out.
the next day, my colleague discovered that the link to the full newsletter was not changed. that means when readers click on it, they'll be linked to the last issue! how careless can i be??
the worst part is, the mistake was in the short version we sent to subscribers, not the full version uploaded onto the site. that means i can do nothing abt it! coz i cant possibly correct the mistake and resend all the newsletters. i almost cried. wanted to tell my boss, but my colleague say its better not to. i may not be the one who gets the scolding, coz its my first time doing it. most likely he'll scold the TP intern who handed over the stuff to me, and the guy who helped me sent out the newsletter on mon nite. they were supposedly more experienced and had to be responsible for doing the final checking before the newsletters were sent out. both of them was on MC that day. i was really at a loss. should i tell my boss? if i dun tell him, when the German boss finds out and confronts my boss, he'll be angry that he din noe abt this rite? i feel that its right that i tell my boss, but then i'll be getting a lot of ppl into trouble if i do.. arrgh! why i so careless? i checked all the links but missed this one! i dunno why. i was worried and upset for the whole day. confused too. dunno what to do..
some more my boss brought us out for lunch. for the whole journey to harbourfront, during lunch, and the journey back to office, i was contemplating whether to tell him or not. but my colleagues told me not to. and i dun dare to tell him on my own, so in the end i didn't.
i felt uneasy for the whole nite. decided to tell him this morning. but before that i told it to the TP intern and the staff who helped me to send out the newsletter. the guy said we cant send the newsletter out again. he said dun really need to let my boss noe. he told me to speak to the writer, coz he's the one in charge of the newsletter. the writer said it's ok. we cant do anything abt it anyway. just be prepared to get scolding if the German boss finds out. so in the end my boss doesn't noe abt this.
my colleague reprimanded the TP intern for not doing the checking and nv teach me properly how to do the linking and editing of pics (the pics were distorted). she's quite upset. and then she get scolding from German boss. made her feel even worse. i felt very bad. actually its my fault that i nv check properly.. sigh, why am i so careless??
then when my boss finished talking to us in his room, he asks :"so anything u all have to say? anything i need to noe?" huh, i was thinking of this mistake. but in the end i din say anything.
i am mentally prepared to get a BIG scolding when this mistake gets to the German boss.. just hope that when the time comes, i won't cry. or else my boss will have to end up counselling me..
anyway, today was not a good day. the TP intern took MC yesterday, but she bumped into our German boss at esplanade for some tourism awards at nite.
German boss went to HR and took the leave records of the TP intern, came back to call my boss and the TP intern again. they came back abt 10 mins later. then my boss called all the interns in. he din scold us or anything. talked to us nicely. sort of comforted the TP intern also. coz the German screamed at her like crazy. wanted to fail her and stop her work from today. but he decided to give her another chance. my boss said so far German boss has made 5 girls in this department cried. afterwhich he was the one who had to do the counselling and comforting..
he talked a lot to us. felt that he's quite nice. encouraged us to hold on and finish our internship without any mishaps. help him to help us. so far he has not failed any interns and he wants to give us good grades. he also said one day he bring us interns all out for lunch. sort of closure to our internship.
though he seems nasty at first, i feel that he's actually a kind person at heart. like today, though he worked late last nite, he din show temper or anything. i thot he'll be really angry with the TP intern, but surprisingly, he was gentle and comforting towards her. and he always brings us out for lunch, buy tidbits for us, treats us to tea breaks, buys breakfast for us etc. its just that he expects us to be punctual and do work properly. if we dun meet his standard in these 2 aspects, he can get really nasty at times.
anyway, while he was talking to us in his room, he asked me why i looked like i was the one being scolded by the German boss. he told me dun worry, he thinks the German boss wont scold me.. haha i guess val was right. i really looked like i was abt to cry anytime. maybe that's why nobody scolded me yet..
actually, i did a grave mistake.
the e-newsletter i was assigned to do, had to be sent out on mon. and mon happened to be the day i stayed back for extended technical support, so i could finish up my work at the same time. i had to do 2 versions of the newsletter. one short version to be sent to the subscribers, another full version to be uploaded onto the website. when i finished the newsletter, only me and the other perm staff was left in the office. he helped me to send a test newsletter and he told me to check for any errors before sending out to the subscribers. i checked and everything was fine. so the newsletter was sent out.

wahhh!! now everyone post! when there is no one here, it's really EMPTY. but anywayz, just wana say to jess: Grad ball is (YES! You're so clever to get it right!) equal to prom night. and to fy's earlier entry, it's AT NIGHT. why do people name it the prom NIGHT then?
i have been busy busy busy today. meeting FIVE media owners and tomorrow, another FIVE. waaa now i know a media buyer and planner is not easy feat. but i am truly happy here. i learn things, i have a great supervisor who allows me to be creative, "zhi you fa hui", great colleagues.
i am thinking of going into media and not account servicing already. but perhaps this decision is greatly influenced by my supervisors. never did i put media into my consideration list. and now i want to go into it. but the media scene here is pretty much clogged up and messed up. esp after meeting the account exec from "for him magazine".
by the way, i need to shop for namecard holder! a nice one... :)
lq, you all meeting uh? have fun hor~~~ take pics and post online and tell me what went on during the achievers' function!!
hey if it had not been jess who told me that the latest copy of LIME has my taufik on it, i would not have known and missed it!!! hurrr what happened ak! never tell me about my dear one!!!
yh? who is that??? clueless la~~

okay.. today i really got a shock chatting w/ jw on msn... sth he said: "i got v slack 1 meh"<--sth like that.... my goodness!!! Furthermore, he sounded very hardworking and he doesn't sound like jw!!!!! work has brainwashed him!!! makes me feel all the more ashamed that here i am, simply counting down to end of internship... instead of working hard like i had intended to, i simply felt my enthusiam draining out sia.. haiZ...
yesterday when the other intern, the art head and i were adjusting the camera outside raffles hotel, this man walked to us and started saying "what's that you got" <--sth like that. then he continued "i like that too!" and he showed us one of those sleek mini digicam, slipping it out of a handphone pouch... meanwhile, we stared at him half dumbfounded, holding our bulky professional camera (which is also digital, but much more elaborate)... When he looked just about to walk off (in fact he took a few steps) he suddenly turned back and came to us again and proclaimed "REMEMBER! it the first of march! you must remember this!"
oh.
ahaha anywayZ, he then walked off and the other intern was like 'this is what happens when you overwork...'
*sigh* probably one of the only interesting thing that happened during my internship... faced conflict the past few days and i really felt rotten but looks like it *may* have passed now.... currently doing sth i actually learnt in class also! logo design! (i can show i know the meaning of logotype!!!)
hmm is grad ball sth like prom nite?

so we post lor...
lq say we hardly post, so i post lor. haha.
anyway, finally i'm doing something i've learnt in dmc: writing for the web. except now it's about 100 times bigger, it's an entire website as opposed to those nonsensical webpages we do in kenneth's class (sorry kenneth).
what's more, the company whose website we're designing is an Internet Security company. how?!? it's too cheem for my simple mind...
i shall not complain here lest someone in my company is reading this. =S
about gradball, sy has suggested we book a hotel room that we can adjourn to in the wee hours. Suggestions include Royal Peacock Hotel in Keong Saik Rd (that's Chinatown) and my own idea: Hotel 1929, also in the same street.
Royak Peacock is cheap, about 130 for a night. Hotel 1929 is not, average 200 for the biggest room but 1929 is a very very nice place! haha, however, i think we would already be spending much for gradball, so i think Royal Peacock better.
on the other hand, shisi says we can just hang around, eat supper (or call it an early early breakfast if you must), then head home.
one gripe i have: wednesday night is a bit weird for a grad ball. why not make it a friday? wednesday is like neither here nor there; plus, i might have another internship after this so if i need to work, i'll be too tired after the grad ball right? the internship is to take up my time before i apply for uni, don't feel like going back to Gelare even though m ex-colleagues were very nice. :)
anyways, tell me what you guys think (about the hotel room, not my internship).
some post scripts:
liqin, on ur most recent post: sounds interesting! looks like you're getting busy... :)
yh: i don't even smell any inch of you on this blog! if i haven't been meeting you for lunch, i would think you've disappeared off earth! don't you guys agree?
