battle of the cab-takers

what a fierce battle over cabs today! i want to complain k, even though i did gleaned something from today's cabbie-fight.

allow me to explain, you guys must be confused.

i took a cab to work today. not because i was late, in fact, i was already at my bus stop at 8.10am, which would make me reach work nicely at 8.55am. that would have been perfect, right?

nooooo.

somehow, this morning's bus was nowhere to be seen. i waited til 8.25am, no 17 (the bus i take) in sight! since i was running late, i thought i would catch a cab to the train station so i can still reach tanjong pagar on time.

but nooooo.

there weren't any cabs in sight either! which was a surprise since many people in my area take cabs, mostly people from the condo and private estate in my backyard, and late-goers too, the yh type, you know.

so, back to the absence of taxis.

i had to wait til 8.35 to hail one! lesson learnt: it's not where you stand that matters, it's who raises their arm first. singaporeans will always have a way to re-invent the cab-taking competition. it doesn't matter where you stand along the pavement, it's your ability to spot the available taxi first, flag it down first, and you win. i felt so shocked and embarrassed to see the cab go to the man only a mere five metres behind because he'd flag the cab first.

walau.

eventually, i couldn't just take the taxi to the mrt, because already very late, i had to get a ride to my office instead.

do you know it costs me more to go to tanjong pagar then to dover ok! ERP and peak hour charges were already half the normal fare! now i have no money to eat lunch! so pissed ok! if my bus had turned up ON TIME, i wouldn't have be reduced to such circumstances (and poverty). sobs.

today really no luck.

p.s. i made the layout change cos my pc at work doesn't take to the black bg very well. if you guys want it changed to previous just say ok? don't hesitate. :)
