romanticizing years ago

i have lunch with my friends in 30 minutes, but i needed to pen my thoughts first. here goes:

in secondary school a close friend once declared that i wouldn't be one to keep in contact after graduation, and that school to me was a chapter i'd close after i was done with it.

she hadn't been aware of it then, because i had just smiled slightly and kept quiet, leaving her to think that she had hit the nail on its head. but how far from the truth she was.

nearly four years after graduation and if you'd look back, who was the one not keeping in touch? not me. the number of times i've played organizer is too many to count, but what about her? i think, maybe, not even once? i'm not lying just to put myself in a sorry state.

our group of eight is perhaps a big number to handle, so many people to call if you want a get-together, and we've all gotten used to not having everyone turn up because, well, with eight schedules, it's pretty tough to get them to coincide, isn't it?

but i'm not talking about whether you turn up or not, because you might be there because of guilt. i'm just tired of you asking "hey keep in contact yeah?", instead of "hey you want dinner tomorrow?"

a simple trip down memory lane would reveal that it's always been the same people who suggest dinner, lunch, a movie, just to talk, birthday celebrations, and all that.

look at us, for example.

i think i wouldn't be too far from the truth if i were to say, four years later, fangying, siangying, myself and perhaps jessica will only be the ones suggesting meet-ups. my feelings - i think they're called disappointment.
